एक लड़का और एक लड़की
एक अमीर लड़का था, उसे एक गरीब किसान की लड़की से प्यार हो गया, लड़की सुंदर होने के साथ साथ काफी समझदार थी, एक दिन जब लड़के ने उस लड़की को बताया कि" वह उससे प्यार करता है और उससे शादी करना चाहता है" तो लड़की ने कुछ सोचने के बाद उस ने लड़के को शादी करने से इनकार कर दिया, क्योंकि वह गरीब परिवार से रिश्ता रखती थी ।
लेकिन `कुछ समय बाद जब ये बात उस लड़के को पता चली, तो उस ने लड़की के माता - पिता से बात की और उस लड़की को समझाया, काफी समझाने के बाद वह लड़की मान गयी और दोनों की शादी हो गयी, शादी के बाद लड़का उसे बहुत प्यार करता था, दोनों का दांपत्य जीवन काफी अच्छा चल रहा था ।
लेकिन कुछ महीनों बाद लड़की को चर्मरोग ( skin diseases ) हो गया, जिसके कारण उसकी खूबसूरती ढलने लगी, अब लड़की को यह डर भी सताने लगा कि उसकी खूबसूरती ढलने के कारण, कहीं उसका पति उसे छोड़ न दे, लड़की उस चर्म रोग को ठीक करने का हर संभव प्रयास कर रही थी ।
समय बीत रहा था और लड़की की खूबसूरती धीरे - धीरे ढल रही थी, एक दिन वह लड़का एक काम से दूसरे शहर गया, लड़का जब वहां से वापस आ रहा था तो उसका रास्ते में एक कार के साथ एक्सीडेंट हो गया, उस दुर्घटना के दौरान लड़के की आंखें की रोशनी चली गई ।
इस दुर्घटना के कुछ समय के बाद उनका जीवन, फिर से सामान्य और सुखी बीतने लगा, वह लड़की चर्मरोग की वजह से दिन प्रतिदिन कमजोर और बदसूरत होती गई . लेकिन पति अंधा होने के कारण उनका दांपत्य जीवन ठीक चलता रहा और दिखाई न देने के कारण वह लड़का उससे पहले की तरह प्यार करता रहा ।
कुछ सालो बाद बीमारी के कारण उस लड़की की मृत्यु हो गई, पत्नी की मृत्यु होने के बाद, वह लड़का अंदर से दुखी हो गया और वह शहर छोड़कर जाने वाला था, तभी उसके पड़ोसी ने उसे सांत्वना देते हुए कहा अब आप तो अपनी पत्नी के बिना अकेले पड़ जाएंगे, वह आपका काफी ख्याल रखती थी, अब आपका जीवन अंधकार में कैसे व्यतीत होगा ।
तब उस लड़के ने अपने पड़ोसी की ओर देखा और गहरी सांस लेते हुए कहा- मैं कभी अंधा था ही नहीं, लेकिन मैं यह सोचकर अंधे होने का नाटक करता रहा था कि कहीं मेरी पत्नी को उसकी बीमारी और बदसूरती के कारण यह ना लगे कि मैं उससे प्यार नहीं करता, इसीलिए मैं इतने सालों तक बिना कुछ कहे हुए अपनी पत्नी की खुशी के लिए अंधा बना रहा, यह बात सुनकर पड़ोसी की आंखों से आंसू छलक आए और वह लड़का वहां से उठकर चला गया ।

After some time of this accident, her life again became normal and happy, that girl became weak and ugly day by day due to skin disease. But due to her husband being blind, their married life went on smoothly and due to lack of sight, the boy continued to love her as before.
After a few years, the girl died due to illness, after the death of the wife, the boy became sad from inside and was about to leave the city, when his neighbor consoled him and said, "Now you are with your wife." You will be left alone without her, she used to take care of you a lot, now how will your life be spent in darkness.
Then the boy looked at his neighbor and took a deep breath and said - I was never blind, but I was pretending to be blind thinking that my wife should not think that I am blind because of her illness and ugliness. I don't love her, that's why I remained blind to my wife's happiness for so many years without saying anything, hearing this the neighbor's eyes welled up with tears and the boy got up and left.
